trying (and failing) to be consistent!!!!!

Hello all!!
I have taken the time to do a rather picture heavy tutorial for the Easter cakes (yes I know I'm late!!) but will post that tomorrow as it needs a bit of organising!!

Easter has proved to be a rather busy time for us and the monkeys 1&2 are now on Easter holidays (one week down, one more to go!!) This golden wedding cake for a friends parents hasn't help but add to the fray but I'm ever so pleased how it turned out!!!
I'm especially pleased with the flowers, considering I couldn't make this until the evening before as it's a fresh cream vic sponge and I was still making flowers at 1am I think it turned out just fine!!

I finished the girls' Easter dresses with time to spare BUT neglected to take photos and also forgot to take pics of the dress I made for myself!!

These will follow soon!! I will get some pix now the sun has come out. Ohh sunshine, how I love the energy boost and lifted spirits that the spring sunshine brings! I do not however love the mudpies, soggy feet and 6 changes of clothes in one day that it signifies with those kiddo's!! Ah well a small price to pay for such blissful weather!!

We're off to Henley with otherhalfsmother this afternoon and I have knitting to be getting on with!!

See you all tomorrow!!

Nesty goodness.

Well it would appear that some of you out there would like this recipie!! I'm amazed, it's lovely people are interested!! I will get it up here in the next couple of days, but will have to make up another batch as what's a recipie/tutorial without some yummy pix??

Lets say I'll post Saturday pm at the latest?! That gives me time to bake with the kiddies around work1( I'm not allowed to make these on my own!!!)

Thanks for the interest everyone!!

A Bit of This and That

Hello everyone, I must apologise for the absence the last week or so!! Two poorly kiddies later and I'm back in business!!

We had a busy mothers day weekend this past weekend and I managed to get my mothers day scarves finished!! Hooray!!
(No pic of the other as Otherhalfsmother is in Egypt at the mo and don't want her to see before she gets it!!)
Even mine. (well it was blocked at about 11pmish on Sunday night so that constitutes on time doesn't it???) Will have to take some better pictures as these were mostly taken in the dark.....

We also did some baking, hooray for kiddy friendly baking. Especially when they look like this when finished.

Bowl Licked Clean.......

Spoon Licked Clean......
Happy little girls!!!
Dead easy to make, recipie available if you like.......would you like??
These were the final result and we took them to Church on Sunday to raise some extra money for CAFOD, win, win!!

I also had two friends' with birthdays so I whipped up some homemade truffles,

I had extras so they were distributed amongst the mummy's closest to me and went down very well by all intents and purposes( again excuse the pics, taken at night again!!)

I wanted to pretty them up a bit so when gift wrapped they looked like this.....
And like this...........
Do you like my funky craft scissor rack?? You do!!..............They're not the best quality but they do the job and create some lovely shaped edges, like on the chocolate menu cards above. They seem to work best on card or thicker paper, normal paper is a bit tricky! However I think they were about £8 for the set and you get what you pay for, right??? Here's a close up.

£8 for 12 pairs of scissors in lovely pretty colours can't be bad!!! (I'd link them but my Mum found them and can't remember where she got them from, just the price!!)

Finally I have started Easter dresses for the girls based on this pattern in the most recent BWOF,
The fabric I'm using is a beutiful ivory Chiffon with a black floral print and a small amount of black embellishment, they're gonna look fabulous (I hope!!!)
I have pictures of fabric but they're on my old phone at the mo which is now deceased, so short of some technical wizardry I will have to take some more!!!

Will have to disappear for now but hope to be back soon with good pictures and details of Easter frockery (is that a word?? mmmm, not sure, but I like it so it can stay!!!)

Pardon? I thought you said Saturday??

I Know, I said Saturdays, but I'm not sleeping well at the moment and blogging is a good way to while away the time! I spend far too much time reading and not enough time sharing!!

I am in the midst of mothers day presents at the moment, both knitted. The first is for my mum and is finished other than the blocking.

The pattern is from the incredibly talented Ysolda and the wool (merino/silk blend) is from the equally talented Laura.

I swear this yarn is just a dream to work with!! Incidentally the colour is more like the skeined photo's than the dodgy ones taken on my phone camera!!!!

The second is for theotherhalf's mother and again the wool is from Laura (this time a lace weight used double) and the pattern is one I discovered on ravelry by never not knitting. This picture is lifted from the pattern, I'm working it in the deep purple colour above but it's late and I can't get any decent pictures of my WIP due to lack of light and/or decent camera!!!!

Both patterns have been quick and relatively easy to knit and I'm almost finished which may actually mean that I have time to make a mothers day something for myself ;)

Here's hoping!!

Better late than Never!!

HELLLLOOOOOO!!!! (que vast echo returning from the depths of blogland!)

Ok, I am back and the idea is to try and post every Sat from here on in!! (perhaps a little ambitious but I need to set myself a target and get back on track!!)

At the moment I should really be working but hey ho! It can wait half an hour!!

I have contnued to lurk and read and comment but I have also been busy knitting and sewing etc.

My friends are all a few years behind me in the "baby-baking" phase of life but have all decided to catch up in quick succession, resulting in 4 babies being born between November and now with another 2 due later this year.
What does this mean?........ LOTS of baby gifts.

Now unfortunately I did not have time to knit gifts for these babies in the way I have done for the 2 that arrived a couple of years ago eg...

With the due dates so close to each other and coupled with my new job that started in November (more on that another time!) I didn't have time to knit so I jumped in the deep end and not being one to shy away from a challenge I decided to make them quilts! (No I have not done this before......perhaps with hindsight embarking on a completely new craft when time pressure is on was not THE most sensible of plans but as I said nought like a challenge, I can sew....how difficult can it be??)

The first one I made I neglected to take photo's of when finished( see people, stop blogging and you stop photographing the crafty evidence!!!) but I have these of the work in progress and of the finished embroidered label.

The second I only managed to take photo's as I went out the door so they're not great, sorry!!
for some reason blogger keeps rotating this picture when i download it!! My computer expertise doesn't stretch to fixing it! SORRY!!
However, I am sooo very pleased with how these came out and I have officially been bitten by the quilting bug. I also made them burp cloths bibs and shoes to match as little recieving sets but I neglected to photograph them either!!

In other news I purchased some Japanese Craft books from this lovely lady in January and wipped this little jacket up from this book,

It's for my eldest and ended up a little tight round the armpits but that may also be because I fully lined the whole thing instead of just the hood, but that makes it......

reversible!! She prefers to wear it "Birds out" rather than "birds in" as intended but that's all good with me! At nearly seven I'm grateful she is still happy to wear "mummy made" items, she makes a big point of it too.."see this jacket? See how Beeauuutiful it is?? My Mummy MADE IT!!!!" (kind of in a nah-na-na-nah-na voice) Cracks me up everytime!!

Well I think that will do for now, before I bore you all to tears. Have loads more to recap and loads more planned too so here's to finding bloggy time for me this year!!!

In the meantime a little love for you all in the form of the card I made theotherhalf for V. Day..

Keep your fingers crossed for me!!!
